Nuptial Flight: Complementarity, 2006

Dye sublimation transfer prints using disperse dye on paper treated with gesso, fabric, ground garnet and mica. Embroidered with silk thread, which also joins the pages of the accordion book. Issued in a lipped clamshell box. This book can be viewed as an accordion, on a long wall shelf (22.5') or hung from the wall/ceiling draping into the nest. The nest is made of beeswax, paper, branches, using a camperdown elm branch as the main support. The base is a found scientific model platform. Nest built with Rolphe White. One of a kind.

Dr. Ratti's Restoration, 2007

Photopolymer prints hand colored by members of the community. I am fascinated by Dr. Ratti's research in wildlife restoration, especially his restoration projects on the Palouse. By allowing wheat fields to go fallow, wild bird populations significantly rebound. This is my dream for the fallow field bird counts 100 years from now. Special thanks to Rolphe White, Carly Lane, Katie Higgins, the Thompson Family, Alan Blickenstaff and Jessica Salvador for their hand coloring assistance. (some of those birds got pretty wild-birds in the future are going to be brilliant!)
